The people of Illinois are literally protesting in the streets. Telephones of elected officials are ringing off the hook. People are mad and frightened at the prospect of the future. What are they protesting? What are they demanding? Citizens of the state are demanding that Governor Quinn raise their taxes in order to ensure certain programs such as subsidized day care for working parents and programs that help disabled individuals remain in effect. They are demanding that Governor Quinn raise Illinois taxes instead of cutting the programs they depend so heavily upon. That is after all what he said he'd have to do if he didn't get his tax increases. The Governor wouldn't lie to these people would he? The governor would never mislead the citizens would he After all, he is the Governor of the great state of Illinois. No other governor before him has ever lied to the people so why would he? And our legislature? Surely they wouldn't lie to us in order to get what they want. That's unheard of!

Volunteers are needed for the following Committees: Local and State Legislative Team: This is a research team comprised of individuals who will work together researching local and state issues. We need people who will keep us up to date on important issues that will affect our area as well as our state. We need people to keep an eye on Springfield. Federal Legislative Team: This is a research team that will work together on Federal Issues. What happens at the federal level will affect us at the state and local levels as well. These teams are very important! Even if you can only devote an hour or two each week to research, your help will be greatly appreciated! Please contact me if you would like to work on either of these teams. Thanks! Suzan T.

I am listening to the President speak live from Cairo as I write this article this morning. To say the least, I am livid. He stated that we have negative misconceptions regarding Islam and Muslims. Like we pulled that one out of our ears or some other orifice. Wasn't it Islamic Extremists that blew us up on September 11, 2001? Isn't it Islamic extremists and Muslims that continually call for the destruction and annihilation of America? Isn't it the Islamic extremists that hate us so intensely that their only goal in life is to destroy us? I don’t call that a negative misconception. I get so tired of hearing him apologize. I get so tired of hearing our president apologize to people around the world for the citizens of this country.

I'm usually a quite cheerful person first thing in the morning. Dare I say it? Even perky. Everyone knows that about me. So this morning, up wide eyed and bushy tailed at 5:10 a.m., I make my morning coffee, tread downstairs, and get on the computer. And there it was front and center on my yahoo home page. US Wants Some Roofs White. Huh? I read the story and thankfully I hadn't eaten yet this morning or my cheerios would have come right back up. But the story did make my coffee taste just a little bitter. My head hurts already and it is only 6:00 a.m. Here are some quotes from the wonderful US Energy Secretary Steven Chu. He told a climate change symposium in London Tuesday that the Obama administration "wanted to paint roofs an energy-reflecting white." My normal cheerful mood left. And it left rather rapidly as I read on. I probably shouldn't have, but it's like watching the aftermath of a car wreck. I had to. Mr. Chu warned the symposium that there was no "silver bullet" for tackling climate change, adding that a range of measures should be introduced, including painting flat roofs white. Additionally, making roads and roofs a paler color could have the equivalent effect of taking every car in the world off the road for 11 years."
